PERAN KEPEMIMPINAN KEPALA MA’HAD AL-ULYA DALAM MENINGKATKAN BUDAYA KEDISIPLINAN DI MA’HAD AL-ULYA MADRASAH ALIYAH NEGERI KOTA BATU

In educational institutions, in addition to having responsibility for academic improvement, curriculum, and personal decisions, leaders are also responsible for improving accountability for success, character, student morale, and the implementation of conducive, effective, and efficient learning conditions. For the reason, one of the indicators of leader success can be seen from the quality of the disciplinary character of his members, as well as reflecting how the leader is respected or not in an institution. To make discipline as a character, it is necessary to habituate so that it can make culture a characteristic of the institution. Therefore, in this research, an analysis will be carried out regarding the leadership role of the Head of Ma'had in improving discipline in Ma'had Al-Ulya. The research conducted by qualitative descriptive research with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation of research subjects including the Head of Ma'had, Ma'had Caregivers, and Ma'had students. The results then will analyzed using primary data analysis with additional secondary data. Through this research, it is known that in his leadership, Head Ma'had uses three leadership styles dominated by democratic leadership styles with the main role of Head Ma'had as Leader, Manager, and Innovator where Head Ma'had functions as Interpersonal Roles and Decisional Roles. Meanwhile, in its application, the strategy of improving the culture of discipline adheres to the concept of controlled freedom and cooperative control by setting futures goals that have a positive effect on improving Ma'had's performance and governance.
