PENGUATAN KEMAHIRAN BERBICARA (MAHAAROTU AL-KALAAM) DENGAN MEMANFAATKAN CHATGPT SISWA MTS NU FUTUHIYAH DONOMULYO MALANG

Abstrak

Speaking skill (Mahārah al-Kalām) is one of the core competencies in Arabic language learning at Islamic junior high schools (madrasah), yet it often becomes the most challenging aspect for students to master. This community service activity aims to strengthen students’ Arabic speaking proficiency at MTs NU Futuhiyah Donomulyo Malang through an artificial intelligence (AI)-based training program utilizing ChatGPT as an interactive learning medium. The training was conducted in a three-hour intensive session using the Communicative Practice Approach combined with a Mini Project-Based Learning strategy. Students practiced direct interactions with ChatGPT in Arabic through simple communicative themes such as ta‘āruf (self-introduction), al-usrah (family), and al-madrasah (school). The results indicated a significant improvement in students’ speaking fluency, accuracy, and confidence. Moreover, their motivation and engagement in Arabic learning increased as ChatGPT provided a dynamic and enjoyable interaction experience without fear of making mistakes. This activity also enhanced students’ digital literacy and introduced an innovative, adaptive, and technology-oriented model for Arabic language learning. Therefore, this program serves as a practical model for strengthening Mahārah al-Kalām through the integration of AI-based media within the context of Islamic education.
